Curtain Sheer Pleat Ratios
- Plain Sheer Curtain (No Pleats)
- 1:2 Pleat (Sparse Pleat 1×2)
- 1:2.5 Pleat (Medium Pleat 1×2.5)
- 1:3 Pleat (Dense Pleat 1×3)
The pleat density of sheer curtains greatly affects their appearance. If you are considering custom-made sheer curtains, it is important to choose the right option, as the same style may not suit every space. Depending on preference, no pleats, sparse pleats, medium pleats, or dense pleats can be selected.
Plain Sheer Curtain (No Pleats)
As the name suggests, plain sheer curtains have no pleats and can be used as curtain panels. These models are often preferred for drapes or blackout linings. Since they hang flat, they do not create an asymmetrical look when layered with additional sheers. If you plan to use them as a blackout lining or curtain panel, be sure to choose the plain option.
1:2 Pleat (Sparse Pleat 1×2)
This ratio falls under the sparse pleat category. It is sometimes used for blackout linings or panels but is more commonly preferred in bedrooms or living rooms where a simpler, less crowded look is desired. If you don’t like dense pleats but want some draping effect, the 1×2 option is a good choice.
1:2.5 Pleat (Medium Pleat 1×2.5)
This is the standard pleat ratio and also the most popular choice. Known as the medium pleat, it is versatile enough to be used in living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, or children’s rooms. Its balanced look makes it suitable for any interior style. If you’re unsure what to pick, the 1×2.5 pleat is a safe and stylish option.
1:3 Pleat (Dense Pleat 1×3)
The 1×3 ratio is the dense pleat option, where the sheers have a very full appearance with no gaps. If you prefer a luxurious, heavily draped look, the dense pleat is ideal. It is the second most popular choice after the medium pleat and is often used in living rooms or guest rooms to create a more formal and elegant atmosphere.

Choosing Sheer Curtain Colors
White symbolizes cleanliness, purity, peace, and serenity. Since it reflects light, it brightens spaces and adds freshness and energy. Architects often use white because it enlarges spaces visually and creates a calm, balanced environment. It is especially preferred in healthcare-related interiors like hospitals, dental clinics, and pharmacies for its clean and hygienic appeal. White also adapts to different lighting conditions, complementing the color transitions in the room.
Measuring Curtains
When measuring for sheer curtains, measure wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling to get the width and height. Leave a 3–4 cm gap above the floor as desired. Since sheer curtains require a 10 cm fold allowance, you can extend the length by 5–6 cm if necessary. Please provide your measurements in centimeters.
